Help stop Anti-Social Behaviour
Hello to each and every one of you!
Firstly, we want to say how sorry we are that you have all had to find us here at NFHiB, as this means that you have or are experiencing NFH related problems currently or in the past.
Now, we would like to ask for your help please:
We truly believe that each and every one of us can help to make a difference in our own lives and to the lives of others, just by giving 5 minutes to send a letter.
After the tragic news story of Fiona Pilkington and her daughter Francecca who were terrorised by anti-social behaviour in their own community, we at NFHiB would like to ask you all to write to your MPs, MEPs, local elected Councillors and any one else in power you think you can get the message out to!
We have already prepared a template letter for you to use should you choose to (and we hope you will!).
The letters can be altered if you would prefer to include your own stories or thoughts on the matter, or you can just send it as it is.
We ask the MPs and those in power how many more people must die of the direct results of ASB and how are they planning to solve this problem?
There are several ways you can send this letter out:
You can print out a copy and send it by post, or -
You can email it to the people you are sending it to, or –
You can "email your MP" using this web address: www.writetothem.com
We would ask that please, please if you can send it out to as many people as you can that would be marvellous!
There are now close to 25,000 members here at NFHiB, if every single one of us sends a letter to 2 people, that is 50,000 letters! 50,000 voices saying hang on a minute, enough is enough and we want something doing about this now before any one else has to lose their life!
We Can Make a Difference!
We would like to thank you all in anticipation and please do let us know if you are lucky enough to get any replies by posting these on the NFHiB Forum.
Here is the link to the full post and template letter at the NFHiB Forum or you can alternatively copy and paste the text below if easier.
(if you choose and you want a reply)
Dear (insert name here), MP/MEP or councillor or government official etc,
I am writing to you with reference to the very tragic case regarding Fiona Pilkington and her daughter Francecca who were terrorised by anti-social behaviour in their own community, which clearly was the major influencing factor in their recent, unnecessary and very, very sad deaths.
Anti Social Behaviour ('ASB') is unfortunately all too common in today's society; ASB, neighbour nuisance, harassment, bullying and many forms of anti social behaviour can result in devastating circumstances and effects on the unwilling (and often unsupported by the authorities) victim[s] of 'ASB'.
We all at Neighbours From Hell in Britain (NFHiB) understand extremely well how 'holistically' any form of anti social behaviour can interfere with almost every aspect of daily living - your health, work/personal life and your life in general all suffer and are affected negatively. In the Pilkington's case it is extremely heartbreaking that the only way they could free themselves from the torment of the ASB they endured and experienced was by ending their lives.
Unfortunately, this kind of anti social behaviour problem that Fiona Pilkington and Francecca Hardwick experienced is sadly all too common to many people in the UK; ASB, bullying/harassment, noise assault and noise nuisance accounts for the largest percentage of neighbour related problems and issues in our experience, over the last 7 years.
I find it incredibly sad that action against this kind of behaviour is only taken after some one has lost their life, and this is happening more and more, the list of victims who have died is getting longer all the time.
Fiona Pilkington & Francecca Hardwick - suicide
Mr. Joseph Durber - suicide
Joan Charlton - murdered
Joe Richards – attacked and left for dead
Paul Hopkins - attacked and left for dead
Terrance Hall – murdered
Jonathan Harper – murdered
Craig Wass – murdered
Stuart Middleton – murdered
Jannette Cooper – murdered
Marc Irwin – murdered
All these people were attacked or affected by their neighbours or/and people in their own local community and this is just a few stories from this year alone.
And of course we must not forget the high profile case of Mr Garry Newlove who was fatally attacked as he walked out of his home to speak to a gang of youths who he believed had been vandalising his wife Helen's car in 2007.
I am asking you what action the government is planning to take to prevent any more of these tragic cases, how many more people must lose their lives before action is taken?
Why is it that most local authorities see the victims of such crime as people who must have done something to have this behaviour thrust upon them?
Why is it that so often it is the victims that have to relocate and move when the perpetrators are left in their own homes, ready to destroy other peoples lives?
I would like to invite you to join the NFHiB Forum so you can see for yourself the impact this issue has on peoples lives: at http://www.nfh.org.uk/forums - NFHiB currently has almost 25,000 members and growing daily; NFHiB exist with a motto of 'Support for all, which is free for all' and has many thousands of forum members who are experiencing or have experienced a huge variety of neighbour-related problems and issues, from noise, anti-social behaviour, bullying/harassment, boundary problems, parking issues and planning problems, and so on.
I look forward to hearing back from you and welcoming you at NFHiB.
